Who am I and what is this blog about?

44 year old sports- and life-loving person who’s goal it is to make life as fun as possible as long as possible. My conclusion is that in order to make life as fun as possible it requires an as healthy and strong body.

At my age I have started feeling the pull from gravity and how the battle against aging has started.

I have over the course of my life practiced many different sports and have attacked them with the same mindset: How can I become as good as possible. I have though never really asked my self how I can be as fit as healthy as possible. It it time to do that now and this is what this blog will be about!

Testing my rowing stamina

I haven’t started describing the whole long term fitness theme and how I measure my progress yet. That will be a later blog post. However, the basic idea is that i score my capabalities in a large number of different activivites.

One of them is rowing on a rowing machine. On this one I measure the number of minutes that I can row at an average tempo of not above 2 min/500m. Tough as hell towards the end. I did this test again at the gym a few days ago and got completely exhausted as you can see. I managed to do 20 mins which was the same as my earlier test in march,

July 28th – Climbing with my daughter

My daughter and I went climbing today. She is 11 years old and has been climbing for about four years now I think. We have gone together to her training every week but I have never really had the opportunity to climb myself then more than maybe just one or two boulder problems.

However, that has really changed this year! She has become really good and also really loves to climb at the moment so we often just go there the two of us. During this summer we’ve gone there maybe twice a week and have had really great workouts. At this moment we are almost at the same level. I still have an advantage on some problems but on others I cannot even understand how she does to pull them off. Today, she was working on a black boulder problem that I had a really hard time just nailing the start of.

But this really spurs me to become better and more fit. I realize that it is only during a short period of time that we will be able to climb together on the same problems and I really want to make that as long a period as possible! It really adds a great will into my fitness project!
